I grew up in the Wisconsin countryside, riding my bike in the forest, playing with insects, and involved in almost every sport imaginable. My life was greatly impacted when I tore a ligament in my knee and could no longer enjoy the active lifestyle I greatly identified with. After an expensive failed surgery, which I was told would do the trick and an inescapable constant pain, my perception of western medicine was less than romantic. I moved to Hawaii to try to find some resolve and passionately fell in love with a mysterious eastern medicine. After my first acupuncture treatment the pain in my knee greatly reduced and the anxiety I carried with me from my trauma was virtually gone. I thought to myself, “I need to do this. I need to help people feel this way!” This passionate love affair carried me to Santa Cruz, California where I enrolled in Five Branches University’s four-year Masters degree program of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Immediately after I passed my California Acupuncture board exam I opened my own practice and have quickly became a leader in the acupuncture community. I am on a mission to mainstream Eastern medicine and make the world and my community a healthier and happier place.
